 Jungle animals are animals that live in forested areas. Animals with different sizes such as large, small and carnivores, herbivores, omnivores and different feeding methods belong to this category of wild animals.




The leopard

The skin of the Sri Lankan tiger is orange-yellow with black spots on the skin. The Indian tiger has smaller spots. The skin near the feet is whitish.

              A typical male

It is about 60-70% of the total tiger population.


Hog Deer

Among the four members of the deer family in Sri Lanka, the rarest member is the bull deer. The deer belonging to the Cervidae family is known in English as Hog Deer, Ceylon Hog ​​Deer, Paddy-field Deer and Swamp Deer.

These animals, which have a very limited distribution in Sri Lanka, are reported only in Kalutara and Galle districts in the wet zone, in a few places in the country and in low-lying areas around the coastal region.

60-65 cm in height, the body color of the lake deer is uniform light brown. In terms of body size, the spotted deer is smaller than the spotted deer and slightly larger than the fallow deer. Since there are no white spots on the body, the spotted deer's body color is red-brown, so it can be distinguished from the Olu deer. Males have a pair of three-parted horns. The legs of this animal are relatively short with a relatively long tail. The eyes are prominent and black in color.




Lemur

                       There are four subspecies in Sri Lanka belonging to the two species of the red shrike, the red shrike and the gray shrike. There are two sub-species of gray heather in the dry zone and the Knuckles region and two subspecies of the red heather in the wet zone and mountains. India also has the species of gray fever loris, but the subspecies of gray fever loris found in Anuradhapura called Loris lydacarianus nodicus is endemic to Sri Lanka.
Seventy years later, a patch of mountain fever was recently spotted in Horton Plains. Deforestation and loss of habitat for the wild boar have posed serious threats to the survival of this animal.
